Chicago is a place full of vibrance and history. From the rich Spanish-speaking community in the south side to the beautiful “little India” lining Devon street; it is all a reflection of the creativity of our Creator and his heart for people.

It’s like stepping into the nations but right at our doorstep.

I had the privilege to be a part of a team that was able to go with the sole purpose to bring the Kingdom down to the streets of Chicago. Our group was a total of 52 people, 40 of them being high school students, partnering with the Holy Spirit and local churches.

It was incredible to see students as young as 15 years old stepping out in boldness and faith, praying that there would be a revival and that they would be a part of it. They were hungry to answer the call of the Great Commission. With Holy Spirit empowerment, that is what happened. There is testimony after testimony of people receiving the love of God. People on the streets giving their life to Christ, the homeless getting their physical needs met by clothing and food while simultaneously being covered in prayer.

The Gospel went forth, and the name of Jesus echoed throughout the city.

But it started in a small room, lights dimmed low, a guitar, and 52 voices. It started with worship, hours spent on knees singing to the King. It started with deep prayer, the cries of our hearts begging that a movement would take place. It started with adoration, our love of the Savior overflowing onto others. Hearts were broken for people, the United States, and for nations. The call to missions rang in the minds of students. The fierce resolution that yes the strangers we meet will hear of the news that we have; but that those back home, the ones we interact with the most, will hear the exact same thing.

Sharing the Gospel is an everyday practice.

There is a lie told to younger generations that their words hold no authority, that sharing the Gospel is only valid if across an ocean. That was proven wrong when normal high school students went to their neighbors in the next city over and when the Holy Spirit anointed their words when they prayed over people who desperately craved the hope that these students carried.

From South Oakley Avenue to West 19th Street.

It was a privilege, to bring glory and honor to the only One who is worthy.

Thank you Dunamis Life Church, Bethel Temple, and Devon Oasis. We could not have done what we did without your years of prayers and outreach, paving the way, and preparing the soil. Thank you AIM team- Karla, Kevin, Kaitlin, Ben, and Brittney. We could not have asked for better leaders, friends, and family.

What a joy it was to serve and love Chicago together.
