I asked the Beechwood Youth group to share some of their favorite stories and memories from their week in Chicago, and here’s what they wrote:
It was amazing to see the smiles on people’s faces when we fed the homeless and prayed for them. I felt so good afterwards. This was definitely my favorite week ever! ~Mia
When we went downtown and fed the people on the streets, it was fun to see their faces. It felt so good to do that because that was probably their first meal in a long time. ~Elly
On the L-train we were handing out notes of encouragement to random people as our ATL. We gave one to a man standing on the train and after he read it he began smiling. You could just tell that the note had made his day and it was awesome to see God at work! ~Anonymous
On the L-train we met a guy named Tracy and he was confused with us trying to talk to him. After a minute he opened up and we got to tell him about the church and we got to pray with him. ~Anonymous
On the L-Train we met a little old lady named Josefina. She was on her way to a doctor’s appointment to check her lungs since she had surgery a few months before. She welcomed us and was so thankful when we prayed for her. Just little things helped make our days even brighter. God showed his love through this woman. ~Jojo
The biggest story of this week for me is God’s way of placing amazing people in my path and other’s when we had very different expectations of what we were doing at any certain moment. Many different people approached us at seemingly random moments, and we were so blessed by those beautiful, Spirit-filled conversations. ~Claire
This week, my heart was really opened up to how much I really love people. Seeing the joy on children’s faces when we gave them attention brought a lot of joy to my heart. I loved seeing God work through these students. Everyone was so filled with the Holy Spirit. I feel very blessed by the whole experience. ~Addie
